On May 20, 2024, a virtual webinar on “Transforming a new humanistic vision of global education into reality” was co-hosted by the Global Campaign for Peace Education and NISSEM. The webinar addressed the potential for implementing the groundbreaking 2023 Recommendation on Education for Peace, Human Rights and Sustainable Development that was adopted by all UNESCO Member States in November of 2023.

More Peace Please: Brazilian youth create posters for a school-wide ethics campaign

ABA Global School is an IB World School in Recife, Brazil that offers a bilingual program for children aged 2 to 10 years old. The 5-year students are engaged in a school-wide ethics campaign which they entitled “More Peace Please.” They have been learning the basics of Nonviolent Communication (NVC) and are doing their best to create personalized pro-peace action plans for each of the school’s eight cohorts.

Echidna Global Scholar: The Brookings Institution

The Center for Universal Education at The Brookings Institution seeks to build the evidence base on girls’ education policies and programs in developing countries. The Echidna scholars program is designed to offer guest scholars from developing countries the opportunity to pursue their own independent research on global education issues with a specific focus on girls’ education. Scholars will also be supported in developing or implementing a project in which findings from the research are piloted. Application deadline: Oct. 31.
