Peace Education Bibliography, Quotes & Memes

Author(s): Candice Carter

Peace is a performance... It entails cognitive, sensorial, spiritual, and physical processes that are purposefully done for having the condition of peace. Many of these processes are not “normal” everyday actions, especially as responses to conflict. On the contrary, they often involve altered thoughts and behaviors that have been recognized, analyzed, and recommended as steps toward peace. Since peace is a performance of purposeful interactions that is not widely taught in formal education of modern schools, theatrical experiences elsewhere have enabled such instruction. Learning through involvement in theatre and dance, especially in their applied models, have provided needed performance instruction.

The book reviews informal as well as formal peace education across world regions. It emphasizes the role of embodied and sensorial learning to have peace in the self and relationships, as well as to heal from violence.
