“Through proper training and strengthening of tools for people working to eradicate violence against women, the Government of Yucatán complies with the tenets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development”, said the head of the General Secretariat of Government (SGG), María Fritz Sierra.
At the closing of the workshop “Education for peace, transformation of conflicts, breaking the cycles of violence”, the Yucatán official stated that these efforts are part of the 16th point of this international initiative, which seeks peace, justice and solid institutions.
“Our Governor Mauricio Vila Dosal is committed to guarantee inclusive, equitable and quality education, to promote learning opportunities and improve education, with a special focus on peace issues. Likewise, we are managing projects for Yucatan with a gender perspective, human rights approach and interculturality”.
“I am sure that the knowledge acquired today will reinforce and multiply, to give good results in the eradication of this scourge in Yucatan and contribute in a more effective way in the promotion of that noble goal,” said Fritz Sierra.
The Women’s Secretariat (Secretaría de las Mujeres: SEMUJERES) is a government agency recently created by the Yucatan State government to promote and foster conditions that allow non-discrimination and substantial gender equality.
SEMUJERES works through the Institute for Equality between Women and Men in Yucatan (Instituto para la Igualdad entre Mujeres y Hombres en Yucatán), which is a decentralized public body of the State Public Administration that seeks the rights of women and their equal participation in political, cultural, economic and social life in the state of Yucatán.
