The Department of Education Studies (EDUC) and the Peace and Conflict Studies Program (PACS) at DePauw University invites applicants for a one-year term position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in August 2022. Ph.D. in Education Studies or related field with a focus on peace and conflict studies by the time of appointment. A commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts setting and evidence of effective and inclusive teaching are essential. The department specifically seeks candidates to teach Foundations of Education and electives in Education Studies and Peace and Conflict Studies that address critical peace and justice studies in education and the role of education and social change in peace movements. Courses may explore questions of violence and non-violence, resistance, movement building, displacement and conflict, praxis, and pedagogy through intersectional, critical, and global lenses. Relevant elective courses may also be cross-listed with other interdisciplinary programs.
Teaching assignment is three courses per semester. The successful candidate will teach cross-listed EDUC/PACS electives based on the candidate’s research and core courses in Education Studies. Funding is available for professional development and competitive funding is available for research with undergraduate students.
