The Department of Education Studies (EDUC) and The Peace and Conflict Studies Program (PACS) at DePauw University invite applications for a one year term position at the rank Assistant Professor to begin in August 2021. Ph.D. in Education Studies, Peace/Conflict Studies, or a related field with substantive experience in peace and conflict studies (by the time of appointment) is preferred. ABD applicants with a firm completion date will be considered at the rank of Instructor. A commitment to teaching undergraduates in a liberal arts setting and evidence of effective and inclusive teaching are essential. The department specifically seeks candidates to teach Introduction to Peace and Conflict Studies, an Interdisciplinary First-Year Seminar (FYS) course, and four electives in Education Studies and/or PACS that address critical peace and justice studies in education and the role of education and social change in peace movements. Courses may explore questions of violence and non-violence, resistance, movement building, praxis and pedagogy through intersectional, critical, and global lenses. Relevant courses may also be cross-listed with other interdisciplinary programs such as Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies (WGSS), Africana Studies (AFST), and/or Latin American and Caribbean Studies (LACS).

Teaching assignment is 3/3. The successful candidate will teach PACS 100 in the spring, one interdisciplinary FYS in the fall, and a total of four 200-300 EDUC and/or PACS electives based on the candidate’s research. Funding is available for professional development and research with undergraduate students.
