Nobel Peace Prize 2018: a teachable moment

This Nobel Prize presents a teachable moment.  Too few are aware of how integral violence against women (VAW) is to war and armed conflict. VAW will continue to exist as long as war exists.  Eliminating VAW is not about making war somehow “safer” or more “humanitarian.”  Reducing and eliminating VAW is dependent on the abolition of war.

It is important to closely examine how the Iraqi government is rebuilding a conflict-sensitive educational system that will hopefully devote itself to both the mental health and the intellectual development of young Iraqi children. Luxembourg Peace Prize 2017 honors Outstanding Peace Education efforts of UWC

Peace activists from around the world were awarded at the sixth annual Luxembourg Peace Prize on June 30 in Luxembourg. The Outstanding Peace Education award was granted to United World Colleges for their educational movement with the mission “to make education a force to unite people, nations and cultures for peace and a sustainable future.”
