As Head of Department Peace Education (all genders) you will be part of Berghof’s Executive Team, and therefore a key part of the organisation’s overall management and strategy-making. You will have managerial responsibility for the Peace Education Department, its strategy and further development and growth. You will provide substantive support to the team and ensure internal coordination and coherence within the department and the wider organisation.

Location: Berlin with frequent visits to Tübingen
Reporting line: Executive Director
- Strengthening our current Peace Education approach and methods as well as developing new concepts and initiatives including the Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agenda and climate change education
- Responsibility for designing and implementing a strong departmental strategy in line with the overall organisational strategy and aiming at further growth
- Ensure further incorporation of Berghof’s strategic priorities including Digitalisation, Climate change, Gender and Dealing with the Past into the Department’s strategy and activities
- Increase integration of Peace Education activities including disinformation and hate speech into other workstreams and projects of the organisation
- Strategic fundraising for the Department and the wider organisation
- Strategic networking for the organisation and raising our profile in the field of Peace Education as well as ensuring visibility of our work across a wide range of actors
- Oversee external strategic partnerships and branding our Georg Zundel Haus in Tübingen, in this context promote institutional links with Tübingen University
- Lead and develop a team based in both our Berlin and Tübingen offices
- Oversee project implementation across the Department and encourage innovation
YOUR KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- You have studied (adult) education, politics, peace or conflict studies or a related field (M.A.)
- You have a minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience and a substantial track record of working in Peace Education, Global Learning and related fields
- You have experience in dynamic environments
- You have experience in leading teams, ideally also remotely
- You have an existing international network in the field of peace education
- You have experience in managing budgets
- You are flexible and able to master challenging situations
- You are fluent in German and English
