In early July, a new Feminist Institute of Peace Studies was launched at Peace MOMO, a Koren based organization specializing in teacher training and training of trainers on critical and creative peace education. The GCPE looks forward to future cooperation with this new institute.
Below is a message of solidarity from Betty Reardon, Co-founder of the Global Campaign for Peace Education, on the occasion of this important inauguration.
To Dr. Kim Elli, Director
Feminist Institute of Peace Studies
Peace MOMO
Dear Dr. Kim:
I am delighted to send greetings and congratulations on the inauguration of the Feminist Institute of Peace Studies within Peace MOMO.
It is good to know of this initiative to assure the inclusion of feminist knowledge and perspectives in peace education. It is especially important at this time of the rising active movements of global civil society. A Korean NGO recognizing the importance of feminism to all efforts for peace is a promising positive development in women’s long history of working for peace…
I wish you success in your endeavors and hope that your efforts might become known to all in the networks of the International Institute on Peace Education and the Global Campaign for Peace Education.
All the best,
Betty A. Reardon

Dedicated to the International Day of Women on 08 March
Though men and women both are equally endowed with the very powerful five elements, and if they get equal and full opportunity and means to be manifested integrally to be just and nonviolent, there is no need to give importance to one considering weaker section.
“At the present stage of the history, civilization is almost exclusively masculine, a civilization of power in which women have been thrust aside in the shade. Therefore it has lost its balance and it is moving by hoping from war to war. Its motive forces are the forces of destruction and its ceremonies are carried through by an appalling number of human sacrifices. This one-sided civilization is crashing along a series of catastrophe at a tremendous speed because of its one-sidedness.” – Rabindranath Tagore
