Researchers at the University of Massachusetts Boston, Jeff Pugh & Karen Ross, are conducting a study on the networks formed through peace/conflict-focused international education and study abroad programs, and the impact that these networks have in fostering peace. If you direct (or work/teach in) such a program, or have in the past, they would be grateful for your assistance in filling out this online survey (see link below along with the formal invitation), which should take less than 10 minutes. The results should yield important insights that will help all of us better understand the type of impact created by the relationships formed through this type of international education.
We are writing to invite your participation in a study on short-term (one week through one semester) academic programs focused on peace and/or conflict. Your participation is requested as the founder/director/staff member of an organization implementing, or having implemented in the past, a peace or conflict-focused program with an international focus (either occurring internationally or bringing international participants to a US-based program).
By participating in this study, you will be contributing to the first systematic assessment of networks established through past and current participation in international education for peace programs around the world. Your participation will help us gain important insights into key features of the global international education for peace community, including:
- Areas of focus within international education for peace;
- Depth and breadth of professional networks among international education for peace programs;
- Depth and breadth of professional networks established by program alumni;
- Best practices and innovations resulting from participation in international education for peace programs
- Most importantly, your participation will allow you to preview survey materials and research results as this initiative evolves.
Your participation represents a significant contribution to this exciting research initiative. The outcomes of this research will indicate how professional development opportunities arise through participation in the field of international education for peace as well as highlighting best practices in the field as a whole.
