The pilot application of the joint education project IMAGINE was successfully completed on June 2, 2017. The pilot, supported by the United Nations, took place in May with the participation of 160 primary school children ages 9-12, coming from 4 Turkish Cypriot and 4 Greek Cypriot schools.

The Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) organized, in cooperation with the Council of Europe (CoE), the final conference of ‘Developing a culture of co-operation when teaching and learning history’ on the 10th and 11th of March 2017 at the Home for Cooperation.
Peace education initiatives have been subject to heated public debate and so far the complexities involved have not been fully understood. This multilayered analysis examines how teachers negotiate ideological, pedagogical and emotional challenges in their attempts to enact a peace education policy. Focusing primarily on the case study of conflict-affected Cyprus, Michalinos Zembylas, Constadina Charalambous and Panayiota Charalambous situate the Cypriot case within wider theoretical and methodological debates in the field and explore the implications of their findings for theory and practice.
Cyprus-based NGO Association for Historical Dialogue and Research named winner of 2016 Max van der Stoel Award
The Dutch Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bert Koenders, presented the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR), a Cyprus-based non-governmental organization, with the Max van der Stoel Award 2016 for its work on history teaching as a tool for reconciliation in Cyprus.
