The New School seeks Director of Social Justice Initiatives – New York
The Office of the Vice President for Social Justice seeks a Director of Social Justice Initiatives.
A commitment to innovative approaches to progressive education that supports the university and its members to create social change that is just, equitable and inclusive is central to The New School’s mission. Utilizing social research, best-practices and drawing from existing models within The New School and established external networks, the Director of Social Justice Initiatives represents dedicated university leadership for social justice initiatives, working in concert with university stakeholders. The Director will help identify, develop and elevate university-wide social justice curricula, events, trainings, partnerships and initiatives based priorities and measurable strategic actions.
Responsibilities, focus and priorities for this position are determined by the Senior Vice President for Social Justice. At the direction of the Senior Vice President for Social Justice and in consultation with stakeholders, including the Social Justice Committee, student, staff and faculty groups, the director will develop strategies and facilitate planning and implementation of a suite of social justice-centered policies, programs and projects.
The director reports to, and is provided supervision by, the Senior Vice President for Social Justice with additional day-to-day support provided by a designee or designees determined by the Senior Vice President for Social Justice and in partnership with other members of the administration, stakeholders and external partners.
