The Senior School Based Violence Prevention Advisor shall provide overall technical oversight and guidance to the project. S/he provides technical expertise on all aspects of violence reduction within school settings and on developing and measuring resilience within the education ecosystem. S/he ensures complementarity of activity approaches related to education and security, integrating best practices and research from both fields. S/he is responsible for integrating key elements of conflict analysis, disaster risk analysis, resilience analysis and violence/citizen security analysis within the project. S/he must be able to guide strategic planning and implementation of activities using appropriate tools from security and education to achieve a cohesive plan for social transformation in adverse education settings.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in education management, political science, public policy, measurement and evaluation in education, community and organizational development, resilience, security and justice sector, criminology, trauma, anthropology, sociology, youth development, gender violence, conflict resolution, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience working in school‐based violence prevention or violence prevention programs in conflict and crisis situations preferably in Central America.
  • Minimum of five years professional experience in a leadership role in school based violence or violence prevention programs
  • Experience working in Central America in related topics required.
  • Proven track record and experience in project designs, policy dialogue, strategic planning and implementation, of school based management and community participation.
  • Proven track record of developing collaborative working environments with involving multiple stakeholders
  • Established relationships with networks, research/academic institutions, and implementing organizations in the field of violence prevention in conflict and crisis.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Phd preferred
  • Experience of education and positive youth development projects in challenging emergency and conflict situations.
  • Experience in developing and/or implementing successful school based violence preventions programs for school faculty and students, parents, government and civil society.
  • Experience working in high‐risk urban areas with gang violence.

Language Proficiency:

  • SPANISH: Professional Proficiency in Reading, Speaking, Listening and Writing is required.
  • ENGLISH: Professional Proficiency in Reading, Speaking, Listening and Writing is preferred.
